Rays of Hope Sunday 6.5.16 then the beginning of our Safari

This morning is our last meeting and event for GNU Foundation at Rays of Hope in Meru.  It has been a very busy, very successful business trip.  We learned a lot and it was certainly quite emotional seeing how dedicated all these business are to helping.

Rays of Hope is a free medical clinic.  The funding comes from the use of the micro-loans to start a few different business in order to earn enough money to pay for the free medical services.  These business are: Pig Sty Project, Dairy Farming project which provides families with milk as well as extra milk for sale at their Milk Bar and a Beauty Salon Project which offers job opportunities and clients are kept in good hygiene.

Here are a few photo's of our visit to the clinic, their businesses and some of the people they help.

So we started our drive to our first Safari destination called Samburu National Reserve.  On the drive we saw some of the local people who owed camels bringing them to the watering holes.  Obviously they are excellent animals to use to transport items in this semi-desert area.

On our drive from Meru we crossed the Equator TWICE, in the same day,  as we had to go from the North to the South and then from the South to the North because of on the road we needed to take.

My favorite Kenyan Beer
