Most incredible Cemetery ever! Monday, October 7, 2013

On Monday, October 7th, after sleeping in until 11:00 am, due to our jet lag we set out for a breakfast/lunch spot and visited Le Biela.  A great location for people watching outside.  It acquired its present name in the 1950's when it became a popular meeting place for racing car champions, including the five time Formula One World Champion, Juan Manuel Fangio, and for fans of the sport. The fig tress are so HUGE they have to use crutches to keep them up.

From here we walked to the most AMAZING CEMETERY in the WORLD!  Check out these images include the resting place of Evita "Don't Cry for me Argentina"!  And look at me next to the life size likeness of boxer Luis Angel Firpo, who lost the Heavy-weight title to Jack Dempsey in 1923.

After spending the entire day walking Recoleta, just over 5 miles we went back to our room to rest before dinner and our "local Tango" outing.

We went over to the Palermo neighborhood to have dinner, at 9:00 pm at La Cabrera restaurant for a steak dinner.  Funky place Beth's loin steak was better than my Rib Eye but the portions were HUGE!.

We finished t about 11:00 pm and then walked over the the Salon Canning guide for the evening Cyrena Drusine, who has a Master's in Dance, is a Professional Dancer.  Our evening went until 2:00 am and while we did not dance, as these Milonga's  are for professionals.  What we loved was that this Milonga is NOT a tourist place, it's for locals who have spent most if not all of their life dancing the Tango.  Cyrena explained a lot about Tango what struck me was when she said people like her, she's from New York, come from all over the world and get addicted to Tango.  WHY because of the embrace.  You can dance with someone you don't know yet be so intimate with each other I can understand why it can be addictive.  The night we were there the USA Tango Champion Naomi Hotta was there dancing with the different men who asked her.  Below is a You Tube video, not so great of this location.
