Here is Beth at the street market
From here we decided that we wanted some exercise so we walked up Cerro San Bernardo. It is about a 1,000 foot climb in which you pass the 14 stations of the Cross. It has a beautiful view of all of Salta.
Of course since we had a late breakfast, after getting distracted at the street fair and with our hike up Cerro San Bernardo we ate a late lunch, when most good restaurants have already closed! We ended up eating in a restaurant on the Salta square. As we ate our lousy lunch we told ourselves to remember never to eat in these totally touristic places, their food is poor and they over charge.
After lunch we are on our way to San Salvador de Jujuy, aka Jujy! We arrived into Jujuy as the sun was beginning to set. We got directions to our hotel Pura Vida Hosteria de Aventura in Villa Jardin de Reyes, which is about 8 miles north of Jujuy. Well there was construction and we could not find this town nor hotel as it got dark. Somehow, by chance I saw a sign and from there we stopped at a small store and got directions, again all in Spanish, of which we speak almost none. We found it and just loved the Owner and her husband. However the hotel was more like a 2 Star. On our first and only night here (even though we had pre-paid for 3 nights) the dogs, and roosters, and goats made so much noise we knew we'd have to find some other place to spend in this Jujuy region.
