Departing Sydney...heading to Uluru (Ayers Rock) - Thursday. September 10th

Today we departed from Sydney, our flight to Uluru was 3 hours so we arrived in the early afternoon.  It seems quite strange to me however Uluru is a 1/2 time difference from Sydney.

We are staying at the Sails in the Desert, all part of the Ayers Rock Resort.
The timing was perfect to allow us some time to rest and relax before our dinner.  We booked a program called Tali Wiru.  Tali Wiru means beautiful dune in local Anangu language.

Hear are a few photo's of our evening

Upon our arrival we were greeting by a musician playing the Didgeridoo.  The musician told us a little about his history...even though he looks white he does have Aboriginal ancestors.  He explained how the instrument is made (by termites), what types of wood usually made from hardwoods, especially the various eucalyptus species.  It's also interesting to note that depending on the wood, the length, the size of the opening the didgeridoo's are different notes.  BTW that fire pit is where we will finish off our evening with Cognac and a small fire before heading home.

Premium grade Paroo Kangaroo rillettes

Glacier 51 toothfish  also know as the Patagonian fish

Brilliant night!

Today we learned of the passing of Judy Greenberg.  Our hearts go out to Bob, Lauren and Beth.  As it turns out I brought my Prayers and Meditation booklet because my Mother's Yartietz is on Sunday, September 13.  Beth and I read the Mourner's Kaddish and the El Moley Racamim.  With this place being a Spiritual place it was emotional reciting these prayers.
