Hotel Pool day and Opera House at night - Wednesday, September 9

We were a bit "zonked" (tired, exhausted)  and "up a gum tree" (confused not sure what to do) so we decided to hang out at the pool and hot tub and enjoy the hotel.  We felt a tiny bit of....shouldn't we be doing something….but staying at this incredible hotel with this ace rooftop pool and hot tub we knew we made the right decision to spend the day hanging out!

The amazing design of the Opera House almost never happened.  The who submitted the eventual design was Jorn Utzon from Denmark.  During the judging one of the judges, Eero Saarinen, a renowned American architect, arrived in Sydney after the other 3 judges had started assessing the entries. He looked through their rejected entries and stopped at the Utzon design declaring it to be outstanding.  Thus if not for Eero it would not be what it is today. As a foot note Jorn Utzon won the prized Pritzker Award for his design

We left the hotel at 4:25 to walk over the the Sydney Opera House as we had a 5:00 tour booked.

The tour took us to the the concert hall which is incredible.  Inside the concert hall is the Grand Organ which is massive.

After our tour we saw the Shakespeare play The Tempest.

Great day!
